meet the board
Jean Alice (she/her)
Secretary
Jean Alice’s passion for arts access is rooted in her own upbringing, where opportunities in arts and education were limited. As she moved through her career, she gravitated toward organizations that engage deeply with local communities, especially those historically underrepresented. Her years working in literacy nonprofits reinforced her belief that access to creativity, learning, and self‑expression can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.
After years of supporting Conundrum’s mission, Jean recognized that championing accessible theatre and arts was where her values and purpose aligned most strongly. She considers it a privilege to serve on the board, helping drive a mission that reflects her own journey and ensuring its continued success—so that arts and theatre remain available, welcoming, and empowering for the communities that need them most.
Michelle McKibben (she/her)
Treasurer
Michelle is a post-production professional nearing 20 years of experience working across television series produced by ABC, AMC, and Netflix Studios. She earned her B.A. in Theatre & Dance with a concentration in Stage Management from the University of Texas and began the first five years of her career as a middle school theatre and dance teacher in her hometown of Killeen, Texas.
A passionate advocate for the performing arts, Michelle loves supporting local community theatre and helping young people discover creativity and confidence through performance. It was meant to be when she was introduced to Conundrum Theatre Company in 2023 when her oldest daughter attended a kids’ audition workshop for Seussical the Musical and immediately “caught the bug”. Michelle joined the board in 2025 and currently serves as Treasurer.
Nikki Yates (she/her)
dei chair
Nikki is a PhD candidate studying educational psychology at the University of Southern California. Her parents like to say she could sing before she could talk, which makes sense, given her love of performing. When she's not working on a research project or tearing up a karaoke bar, she enjoys playing with her dog, running while listening to podcasts, and baking overly complicated pastries.
Jess Jani (she/her)
Marketing Chair
Jess Jani has been surrounded by performers her whole life, which only solidified her passion for the theatre. Her journey with Conundrum began as an actor, gracing the stage in roles such as Medium Alison in "Fun Home" and Cinderella in "Into The Woods." Most recently, she made her directorial debut with Conundrum’s production of Little Shop of Horrors. Beyond her theatrical pursuits, Jess works at AV Squad, a company specializing in crafting movie trailers, demonstrating her commitment to storytelling in various forms.
As a member of the Conundrum Theatre Company's board, Jess Jani's vision is to foster an inclusive, accessible, and thriving theater community on the West Coast. Her gratitude towards Conundrum for rekindling her passion for the stage knows no bounds, and she looks forward to the endless opportunities they provide for everyone in the community to explore their artistic boundaries.
Jordan Kaiser (she/her)
Communications chair
Jordan Kaiser has always been an avid supporter of local theatre. Her love of the arts began at an early age - she was an Assistant Director at her local community theatre as a teenager, and president of Chapman University's musical theatre organization while studying there.
In her time on the board of Conundrum, she has directed our sold out run of RENT, assistant directed our run of Cabaret, and overseen production on many of our shows.
Pursuing her other passion for film, Jordan currently works as a film publicist at Sony Pictures. She loves that Conundrum provides a creative outlet for artists who work full-time in other industries.
Caitlin hsu Tobin (she/her)
Board Member
Caitlin has been on stage since she was 10 and joined the Conundrum family in 2024 for their production of Urinetown: The Musical. She works as a Transaction Coordinator for ExchangeRight Real Estate in Pasadena, where investors are empowered to be secure, free, and generous. Caitlin is inspired by Conundrum’s mission to generate creative opportunities both for children and for adults with traditional day jobs. The community she’s found through Conundrum is one that values respect, tenacity, and compassion, and she’s grateful for the chance to serve all those who call the theatre home.
Steve Chivers (He/Him)
Board Member
Steve has worked as a writer, actor, producer and director on sitcoms, hour dramas, web series, documentaries, unscripted, podcasts and plays. Most recently, Steve directed the sold-out production of “The Irish Curse 2.0: The Diverse Curse” at the Broadwater theater. His seven-part podcast “The Execution of Bonny Lee Bakley” was the #1 podcast in the county.
