Into The Woods

We kicked off our latest season with the classic Stephen Sondheim musical that intertwines the lives of several famous fairytale characters, including, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the beanstalk, and Rapunzel.  Our immersive concert-style show featured an incredibly talented cast dedicated to creating a fresh take on this timeless show while still maintaining the spirit of the beloved musical. 


Into The Woods marked the first live theatrical production for the city of Burbank since the start of the pandemic. Conundrum continued its partnership with local brewery, Lincoln Beer Company, which hosted the two night sold out event. 

Yes! It's Rocket Science

We kicked off the year strong with a virtual reading of a new original musical, Yes! It's Rocket Science. Written by Robert E. Harpold, Lisa Sedares, and James Winsley, this new musical focuses on a group of young engineers finding their way and themselves through rocket science.

Conundrum finished out the year at Lincoln with a one-night-only production of Putting it Together, a five-person musical review full of Sondheim favorites. The Conundrum Artistic Board performed in the show and nearly sold out the brewery!

Broadway 'N Beer: Christmas Cabaret

In December 2018 Conundrum partnered with Lincoln Beer Company in Burbank to put on Broadway 'n Beer--a holiday cabaret pairing sets of songs with Lincoln's delicious beers. 

This holiday performance brought together incredible voices and a packed house. The evening ended with an open mic and holiday sing-a-long.

Conundrum Theatre Company's self-produced cabaret series continued with a staged reading of Bells Are Ringing. This charming show featured both veteran and new talent for CTC performing to a sold out house.

Conundrum's second cabaret, featuring vocal selections from The Pajama Game, was yet another successful evening filled with food, fun, singing, and dancing. The Sleeptite gang brought new life to this classic show providing an entertaining evening for all.

Social Impact Center Drive-In Concert
April 17th, 2021

Conundrum was lucky enough to join forces with The Burbank YMCA to stage a drive-in concert fundraiser to support the Y's new Social Impact Center. The one day event consisted of a matinee and evening performance, raising over $1000 for the center.

The first of its kind in the Burbank community, the Social Impact Center is a safe space for individuals, specifically young people, who are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. The center offers a space for the youth of Burbank to learn life skills, attend workshops, and improve their mental health in a variety of programming.

Covid Baking Competition: The Musical

The 2020 pandemic didn't stop Conundrum from producing musicals! In house writing team Lisa Sedares and Jackie Brenneman wrote, directed, produced, and performed an original musical specifically designed for a virtual platform. Actors from Conundrum past and present played different bakers and judges in a fun, upbeat 15 minute musical.

Conundrum Cabaret: Dogfight
June 9, 2019

Conundrum continued its successful partnership with Lincoln in 2019 with a fully staged reading of Dogfight. This rarely-produced show from the team behind Dear Evan Hansen and The Greatest Showman brought a ton of new talent to Conundrum and proved that a brewery is absolutely the right venue for a musical. 

Funny Girl
October 29-November 20, 2016

Conundrum had its first fully-staged production with Funny Girl at the Colony Theater in Burbank. Conundrum partnered with Friends of the Rialto to bring Funny Girl to life for Burbank, Pasadena and Los Angeles audiences. 

This production garnered rave reviews and pulled together incredibly talented performers, musicians and technical professionals to put on a professional production that reached hundreds of audience members. 

New Work:
Death of Jubal
March 12, 2016

The Death of Jubal was Conundrum's inaugural play and our first new work. This full-length tragicomedy by local playwright John Bolen played to a full house at Old Oak Cellars in Pasadena, and introduced a whole new group to Conundrum Theatre Company.

Rialto Theatre's
90th Birthday Gala
October 17, 2015

South Pasadena's historic Rialto Theatre opened for one night only on October 17th to celebrate 90 years since it's opening. Conundrum Theatre Company produced the talent portion of the evening which featured variety acts true to the theatre's vaudevillian history, including a live organist and silent film, opera, dance, musical theatre, and an original song written in the theatre's honor.

Conundrum Theatre Company's self-produced inagural cabaret night featured vocal selections from Chess. Our talented cast of twelve was met with a full house and sang and danced their way to a standing ovation!


Thank you to our cast, volunteers, and all those who came out to support us! 

Night on Broadway was the first time in decades that seven of Broadway's historic theatres were open to the public on the same night - more than 35,000 people came out to celebrate and be part of history!


This was not just LA history, but Conundrum history. With only a week of rehearsal and a budget of $100, we were able to put on a professional production - with no tech rehearsal! Thank you again to all who came out or supported us in spirit!!!
